In August 2012, my wife and I decided that we had to find something for cardio on top of our weight lifting routine. Riding a bike, elliptical, etc., just isn't for me. So we talked to a friend of ours from the gym and he told us we just look into KRAV MAGA (Israeli Self Defense) So, I called a few places and decided to go to Greensboro Octagon MMA and Krav Maga first. I told my wife before we went in to just let me do the talking because I figured we would be pushed into buying something….. Not the case. We first spoke to Kim Jenkins and she said we could come to a class or two for free. Then we talked to David Stacy and he told us how the classes were set up and what we could expect. After the first class we were sold. No pushy sales tactics, no idiots trying to be bad, just normal people from all walks of life learning how to defend, fight and get into shape through Krav Maga.
Since that day in August, I have set and achieved my personal goal of taking and passing the Krav Maga World Wide Level 1 Belt Test. I can honestly say it was one of the toughest challenges both mentally and physically that I have done in my life (I played NCAA DII Basketball and was Academic ALL Conference just to put it in perspective). Also, my core strength is stronger than it has ever been. Who has time for core training? I actually asked that to a personal trainer once. With all the drills and exercises we do in class your core has no choice but to get stronger…along with your arms, chest, legs, etc. I could go on but I will end it with this, Greensboro Octagon MMA and Krav Maga is not only great place to learn Krav Maga, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, Boxing and Russian Sambo but also a place to meet and workout with great people from all walks of life. I would like to sincerely thank David Stacy, Kim Jenkins and the rest of the instructors at the Greensboro Octagon MMA and Krav Maga for everything I have and will learn in the future. Thank you for introducing me to a new exercise that teaches me how to Defend, Fight and get into Shape! Also, for introducing me to great people who many have become great friends!
