Krav Maga is a non-competitive tactical self-defense system developed in Israel that consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from boxing, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Judo, jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and grappling, along with realistic fight training. Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and extremely efficient and brutal counter-attacks. Aside from training in combatives, Krav Maga teaches how to get out of various real-life attacks such as chokes and bear hugs. At a higher level Krav Maga also teaches how to defend against knives, sticks, and guns.
A typical Krav Maga class starts out with an intense 10-15 conditioning session. From there the class will focus on various real-life threats and how to deal with them efficiently. Toward the end there is typically a “stress drill” that involves students having to practice the techniques under less than ideal circumstances.
