Boxing is a martial art and combat sport in which two people engage in a contest of strength, speed, reflexes, endurance, and will by throwing punches with gloved hands. Often, boxing is referred to as the “sweet science” and has historically been the most popular combat sport in the world.

Classes consist of a proper warm-up, including rounds of shadowboxing. Instruction consists of training proper stance, movement, punches, and defensive techniques. Once students have the basics they will get to work on punching combinations and counter-punching. The bulk of the class consists of practicing techniques on the heavy bag and punch mitts with a partner. Optional sparring takes place at the end and students are not allowed to spar until they have trained for a minimum of 2 months (unless they have proof of prior training elsewhere).
